Hello,,
I'm admitted to CSULB as a pre-nursing major, Fall 2011 as an Freshmen.
I really have no idea what to do.
I live in Irvine, where it takes 30minutes from my house to CSULB, so should i dorm myself? (sorry, i know its kinda irrelevent).
I don't have that much credit to take to my college from my current high school.
What classes should i take?
I have heard about it that it is hard to get into an actual nurse major. (I have heard that first two years, you just study your general education, and then the adminstration picks people again as an actual nurse major. It is true? ) Someone told me to apply to some other schools too, when im on my junior year.
I know that it is hard to transfer from any cal state to any uc campus.
I was wondering if i get a really high GPA on my first two year of college, then i can transfer to UCLA nursing program? Is it possible?
I really don't know about how the pre-nursing program works.. Please help me..
Thank youu..:redpinkhe

go talk to the nursing adviser at the school. they should have a list of classes you need, you should also be able to find the list online. a 30 min. drive isnt that long but if you want the full college experience definitely live in the dorms

UCs are just generally more selective but nursing programs are different. Other programs admit people into their majors expecting people will drop out. Nursing wants to know you have a high chance of making it before you are admitted. So you should talk to your perspective schools and see what you need to get into their nursing programs and do that. Plan to apply to multiple schools.
As far as dorming, I'd say I found living on campus to be invaluable during undergrad. I knew a couple people who went to CSULB and their dorms were tiny but being able to walk back to your dorm and nap after an allnighter rather than drive home, is well worth it.
