Can someone please explain me what is diffence betwen Hesi and NCLEX

The Hesi is an NCLEX indicator test - a test that prepares you for the NCLEX and is supposed to give you a good idea on how you will fare on the "actual" NCLEX. That way, you know what you will need to study to prepare for the real one. :)

HESI is used by some but not all schools, as a way of seeing if students are likely to pass the NCLEX. Some schools will not let you graduate if you don't pass the HESI. Others use it to see where their students are academically, but don't tie graduation to it.

The NCLEX is the exam, sometimes known as "taking your boards", used nationally by the state Boards of Nursing, who regulate nursing for their individual states, to determine if they will register you as a nurse, qualified to practice nursing in that state. Its the National Council Licensing Exam for Registered or Practical Nurses.

I have heard of students doing well until their last semester, failing the HESI and getting booted from the program. Not the purpose for which it was intended. Luckily, most schools that use it do so as a tool for evaluating their programs.

The other posts are correct. The HESI is a standardized exam meant to give to school an indication of how well you would do on the NCLEX. However, in our school, the HESI is used as our final exam for each nursing course (Foundations, Med-Surg, Psych, OB, etc) and is worth 30% of our grade. Then, for our final semester we have to take the comprehensive exit HESI which determines if we will graduate with our BSN or not.
