Hi! So I am going to be applying for nursing school in the future. A little about my academic history:
I have a bachelor degree in Exercise Science and Health and currently work with RNs in Cardiac Rehab. I decided I wanted to get an accelerated bachelor degree.
The programs I am applying to require:
Nutrition
A&P
Micro
Stats
Medical Terminology
Biology
Lifespan Psychology
I currently only need to take lifespan psych. However, I took A&P in my undergrad and I am worried that I should need to retake it again. Our school's grading system was:
80%-89.9% is a 3.0 no matter what. My overall undergrad GPA is a 3.5. My pre req grades are:
Nutrition 4.0
A&P 3.0
Micro 4.0
Stats 3.8
Medical Terminology 4.0
Biology 4.0
Lifespan Psychology Need to take expecting to get a 4.0
Would you suggest retaking A&P? Obviously, I really don't want to due to money and time. I just don't want to pay for a course, that I don't need to worry about. I am concerned that A&P is very important and they may want a higher score. Would my current work experience override that? I also have taken exercise physiology and applied A&P with a 4.0.

I wouldn't retake it- some schools might not even allow you to, since you have a passing grade. Does your program only require one semester? Most programs require two semesters of A&P.
Did you mean a 3.0 in stats?
Thank you for responding! So I took statistics from a school with a different grading scale and received a 3.8. So you would suggest not retaking A&P and I took anatomy and lab one semester and physiology and lab second semester, so two courses both a 3.0 grade.
thank you!

I don't think you need to retake it. A 3.5 cumulative GPA with a 3.8 cumulative in pre-reqs means you are doing well.
Thanks for all the replies. Do any of you by chance know if EKU would look favorably on this GPA?

Contact the school. They can tell you more about your GPA. "look favorably" is a very subjective statement. Get facts and don't assume things. If someone on a message board tells you something is no good..are you going to take that as fact? Apply...and apply more...and keep working hard.

As another poster said contact the school or schools you are thinking of applying to. First they will be able to let you know if they will accept the classes you had taken previously for their program. Also depending on how long it has been since you took those classes you might be coming up on the time limits for how long a particular school will accept those classes. Each program is going to have their own time limits so definitely check with the school themselves. Good luck
