I have been looking about the military since I was younger(high school) but I didn't have any family support to do it so it sort of went on the wayside. Well lately I have been thinking about it more and more about it lately and was going to call a recruiter but thought I would do a little research on my own 1st.
A little back ground I was in LPN school my sister was killed in a car accident & went to be home with my family forcing me to go on a LOA. When I got back(several months) they had change there LOA's and I was forced to reapply for the program and I decided to just purse my RN instead. I am hoping to start a RN program pretty soon.
Any info would be greatly appreciated:yeah: Good & Bad!

Hey there :nuke: First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your sister but awesome to know that you are still going through with what you started. You may want to consider ROTC and they will give you a scholarship along with a stipend to live off of while you are in school. Then when you finish, you would commission as a officer (2nd Lt.) and begin working at one of the medical centers. If i could do it all over again, I would have went the ROTC route instead of taking out so many loans! But, I wasn't thinking about the military at that time. Not too sure which branch you are leaning towards, but I'm waiting to see if I got accepted for the army nurse corps when i graduate next May. I am super excited! I'm pretty sure there are alot of ppl on here who have went through an ROTC program and I know some ppl that have and loved it! Great way to get you in, pay for school, and avoid enlisting (no offense to anyone) if you want.

Colorado Girl,
Are you attending a BSN program or ADN? If you are in Denver, make sure your program is NLN or CNNE certified, or your nursing degree won't be accepted by the military. I had a friend who went to Front Range and she is not accepted by the Military until she gets a BSN because FRange is Not NLN certified......bummer!
I suggest you call a "healthcare recruiter" and speak with them about your goals.
There is a recruitment station in Aurora ( SSG Dejesus will help you)......
Good Luck,

Hey Coloradogrl I'm definitely not an expert by any means, but I am doing a 2 year Air ROTC program for an accelerated BSN and I have to say its a pretty sweet deal. They are paying for 100% of my tuition, plus free room and board, plus a monthly stipend....and there is always the nice feeling of knowing that you have a job when you are done. I had trouble getting in touch with a healthcare recruiter so if you are interested in it I would just contact the ROTC program directly, thats what I ended up doing. If the school you are interested in doesn't have its own ROTC program it may be a cross town school with one that does.
