can you hire without going though an angecy

I have a question does anyone know if you can you hire without going though an angecy? I have a hard time getting time off at my job to get my s/p catheter changed and I am thinking about hiring someone who can do it on a weekend , but one place I called charges $250.00 for a home visit and I am shore I can hire someone to do it for less .But it just does not seem right or safe to say place an add on criegs list ?

this may bbe a dum question but how would you check the background of a PDN ? is there a web site ?

I would call their references. You can run a criminal background check through one of the reference checking companies. The interview would probably give the most information. If you get a gut feeling that this is not the person you want for the job, then look at the next candidate.
