All hospitals here require you to apply online, but I am sure they get hundreds of applications for each position they post. Should you call a few days after applying online? What should one way when calling, and what is the timeline for calling after initially applying?

Even though a lot of them do require you to apply on-line, I would still fill out a few applications in person at some of the hospitals. I applied somewhere on-line, and didn't hear anything back for a week. So I showed up in person, filled out an application, and was called back for an interview the very next day.
As far as calling goes, I don't think there's any special timeline-But I would call no later than a week after you apply, to show that you're interested in the position. Sometimes you have to be a little aggressive. When you call, just say that you have recently filled out an application at their hospital, and you are very interested in setting up an interview if the position is still open. Good luck!
Thanks, DreamyEyes! I didn't mention in the original posting that this is for an apprentice nurse position. With my current work and school schedule, I don't have any time to get down there in person, but I will definitely give them a call on Monday. Thanks again!
