CA will require foreign grads to be licensed in their country before NCLEX

Hi!

I just called CA-BON and the person I spoke with said I better submit my application now because starting January 2008 they will no longer accept NCLEX applications from foreign graduates who are not licensed in their country. She said it's not on their website yet but that will the new rule ..The woman further said the day my check gets deposited is the official receipt date of my application and I get a file number at that time..

Now, has anyone heard of this???? So, I submitted my application Dec. 3. My question, how long did it take for CAli BON to deposit/cash your check payment?

to the one who have started this thread, favor, i guess it would be very helpful to all of us who are in the same "wagon" as you, (only you have mailed your documents earlier),to please keep us posted if you have any updates on cali brn's requirement of a license in the country where an applicant was educated.I cant call the cali brn office yet since, it was advised that i should follow up after 6 weeks,or else a delay of processing will occur, best regards and good luck

Your focus at this point should be the fact that they will not even issue a license number to you if you pass the exam, and the letter that you get that states that you have passed is only valid for three years and then it is destroyed.

You are also looking at about a five year wait for a chance at a green card.

We have been expecting this new rule to go into effect for 2008, if you submitted before, then you are okay. But with a five year wait, how are you going to get experience as an RN? No experience in five years and immigration is not going to issue a visa. Plain and simple.
