C.N.A Interview.

Hrrm...for my home health care job I had to take a test but I wasn't yet a CNA, I was a "Personal Support Aid"

Maybe its one of those personality tests.

Where the question is:

"I think it's okay to steal from work sometimes"

I just went through two CNA interviews last week, both for hospitals. One on a medsurg floor at a large hospital, the other on a rehab unit at a smaller hospital. The interviews were similar. I was asked the following questions:

Why do you want to work for (insert hospital name)?

What do you think you can bring to our company and why?

What is your greatest strength/biggest weakness?

You have a verbal altercation with a co-worker, how would you handle the situation?

Name a time you went out of your way to provide excellent customer service.

You see a fellow co-worker struggling with a patient, how do you respond?

The larger hospital was also interested in the fact that I was in school taking my pre-reqs for an RN program, and asked a few student related questions. Like, why did I choose the medical field? What do I believe makes a great nurse? What is my ultimate goal as a future nurse? And as a student working torwards my RN, why did I choose to work as a CNA? The really enjoyed the fact that I was eager to learn as much as possible, and to gain hands-on experience to help with my future goals as an RN.

I have absolutely no work experience as a CNA or in health care, other than what I learned during my 2 month CNA training course, and that was a few years ago. So my goal was to ace the interview and really "sell" myself as an out-going, eager-to-learn candidate with lots of potential. It must've worked, I was offered the job on the spot at both interviews, even though on the initial application both positions wanted "at least 1 year acute care experience". I have none, but applied anyways.

I ended up taking the (lesser paying) MedSurg unit at the larger hospital, for more hands-on experience.
