I am an RN with a previous Bachelor's degree in Psychology and MS Ed (I was a teacher before going back to nursing school.) I have been working for almost 3 years now as a nurse. I know I need to return to school for an advanced nursing degree b/c the job market is quite limited with only an RN where I live. Plus I am finding as a newer nurse, my previous degrees really mean nothing without a BSN. I am currently looking into bridge programs, either RN-BSN or RN-MSN. I am not 100% sure where my career path will take me. I am not sure I have aspirations to be a nurse administrator of any kind but can definitely see myself doing clinical nurse education or something of the sort down the line. Bedside/ floor nursing has been great experience and I am happy to continue with it to gain more experience but I am not sure it is where I want to hang my hat long term...
I am wondering if a BSN, plus my MS Ed would be enough or if I should just go for the MSN.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
