BSN interview and have questions

Published

Hi all

I have my BSN program interview coming up and I think I have a pretty good idea about what I will be asked but does anyone know of a resource to give me an idea about how to answer some of the interview questions? I know that may sound dorky....sorry about that.....but I'm just feeling anxious about the whole thing

Thanks!!

Heather

Hi! I have my interview on Friday (3/14)! I am sooo nervous! I dont have any advice, but I would love to hear from people who have been through this. When is your interview?

Thanks for your reply!!! My interview is Monday 3/10......I also would love to hear from folks who have been thru this

Thanks again and good luck to you!!!!!

I just had two interviews and had two offers. I have my last one on Monday. My first one was fairly easy. They mainly wanted to know what my goals were and where I saw myself in nursing. I took a tour of the unit and they wanted to know if I had any questions.

However, in the second interview I was asked, "what I feel a good nursing orientation would be," what should be included and what do I expect during an orientation," and they also wanted to ensure that I has uninterrupted time for 16 weeks for the orientation. I'm sure that timeframe varies from hospital to hospital though.

Good luck!

I think the original poster is speaking of a nursing program interview however, not a job interview. Still helpful information though, but just to clarify. Also, to the OP, you can search for previous nursing school interview threads (there are many) by using the search feature near the upper right side of the page.

HeatherTn, where is your interview? Mine is at Tennessee Wesleyan in Knoxville. I am assuming your in TN too?

Mine is at Tennessee Wesleyan also!! What a small world....that is such a small school....it's a great school that is where I received my first bachelor's degree in Human Services...

Are you nervous? I am and I am trying not to be....

Good luck to you!!!!!

Heather

How cool! Is is a small world afterall!! Yes, I am SO nervous-you have no idea! Did you have to do an interview for your first degree?

Hello Futurenurse :)

no...I did not have to do an interview with my Bachelor's from TWC...it is in Human Services which is similar to a degree in Social Work.

I am nervous too!! TWC is a really nice school and I keep wondering how many people have applied vs how many applicants they will accept...they have a very good BSN program....

Have you finished all of your pre req's? I still have to take A&P II but I'm registered for it this summer

Heather

Well, I am taking 18 hours this semester, and 10 in the summer- and then I will be done! I kind of decided last minute to apply and now I am having to play catch-up. I do have all my sciences complete except Nutrition; I am taking it now! I was thinking about asking them how many people apply, and how many they accept. I love it there, I have applied to 5 different programs, but TWC is my 1st choice!!

I've had two interviews for two different programs.

The first one was pretty lame: Why do you want to be a nurse? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What do you see yourself doing 5 years from now? (yawn)

The second one was more interesting. What do you think nurses do; what are their duties? Have you ever shadowed a nurse? What magazines do you read? (I'm not making that up!) What would you do if you saw a family member making a loud scene at the nurse's station? (I loved that question!)

The second interviewer told me she asks what each person thinks nurses do because she's found some people watch Grey's Anatomy or ER and think that that's the real world! LOL

Best of luck!

Best of luck to you!!! Especially taking 18 hours....I know that is tough...I have only done that once and you basically have no social life....the good thing is that like you said you will be done with pre req's by summer so that is definately your light at the end of the tunnel......

Unfortunately, I have only applied to TWC.....I though about applying at Cleveland State or Pellissippi State but I'd rather have a BSN at this point I think

I agree though TWC was my first choice too!! It's really a lovely school....I loved it the first time and I'm looking forward to returning, fingers crossed LOL!!!

Good luck to you and since my interview is monday I'll let you know how it went
