BSN and Accelerated programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I am intrested in BSN programs and accelerated nursing programs located in California. Help needed from anyone that has applied, and that has any suggestions on any programs.

I am not sure if you are interested in online programs, but I just started my first core course for my BSN through the University of Phoenix. It is a great program and also has lots of masters programs. There are no clinicals involved. I recommend checking it out!

I took looked at University of Phoenix because it was completely online, however, I felt that I would not be disciplined enough to do it. I just completed my BSN through an on-campus program (19 months, 1 night a week(Wednesdays from 6 -10p). I don't regret doing this. I got the classroom time I needed and feel that I have completed a great program. We finished school on August 11 and will graduate on October 2!.

Look and research the programs that are in your area, and then make your decision based on what your needs are. I am military and we sometimes do what is called a decision making grid, basically the pros and cons of an issue. Maybe this will help you decide what program will be best for you. Good luck.

There are BSN programs scattered throughout the state of California. The state schools (California State University system) offer BSN, but I think only a few of them offer the accelerated option. For state schools, I've heard Long Beach, San Diego, and San Francisco are the best. There are also several private schools that offer the BSN and accelerated options--Mount St. Mary's in LA, University of San Diego, and University of San Francisco to name a few. I've heard that Mount St. Mary's program is good as well, but I'm not sure about University of San Diego or San Francisco. A good idea would be to post this on the California message board as well, if you already haven't done so--I'm sure someone will get back to you.

I hope this helped!

THANKS MICHELLE FOR RESPONDING AND THE ADVICE. I HAVE LOOKED INTO ALL THE PROGRAMS THAT YOU MENTIONED. I WAS REALLY INTERESTED WITH UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO, AND LONG BEACH. I'VE CONTACTED A FEW PEOPLE. IT SEEMS THAT IT WOULD BE REALLY HARD FOR ME TO GET ACCEPTED BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS, AND BECAUSE I AM A TRANSFER STUDENT. I REALLY WANT TO LOOK INTO THEIR ACCEPTACE AND DENIAL RECORDS.

TooterIA - just to let you know University of Phoenix online BSN completion program does have clinicals. Its a total of 110 hours, very easy to obtain and document, but nonetheless, clinicals. Good luck...I finished the BSN completion in May 04!
