Anyone out there applying for the Spring 2009?

I'm applying for the second time. I applied last time to get the three extra points and this time I'll go crazy if I don't get in. -lol- I didn't expect to get in b/c I only had 20 points. Now, they decided to bring back the interviews! I'm scared to death of it, but all I can do is pray that they can see how bad I want this.

Anyways, just wanted to see if there was anybody else out there!

Hey Connie,

We probably know eachother. I applied this Fall for the spring but no luck. I now have my 3 points and with my 6 points from this fall, I should be at 30 for when I reapply for Fall '09. What classes are you in? I am in Patho, Pharm, EOL Issues, and Dosage.

Hey Connie,

We probably know eachother. I applied this Fall for the spring but no luck. I now have my 3 points and with my 6 points from this fall, I should be at 30 for when I reapply for Fall '09. What classes are you in? I am in Patho, Pharm, EOL Issues, and Dosage.

I'm finished with all except Dosage, and when I tried to register for Dosage on Tuesday afternoon-it was already full. I'm going to have to keep checking back. I didn't make it in this time. I applied with 27.5 points. I did make it to the interview, but apparently I'm an idiot or something. I have been so depressed. This is the second time I applied. The first time I knew I wouldn't get in, but wanted the 3 extra points. I only made an 84 on the HESI, I guess I should try to take it again. It's a gamble. The longer I'm held back, the worse my memory of Anatomy gets. I am 32 with 5 kids and my husband and I decided on moving into a 3 bedroom 1 bath rent house so he could be the supporter while I went to school in 2006. I was really hoping to be in by now. Now, I'm held back so much longer. This semester I am taking Nutrition, and another math both that would go towards a Bac. if I decided to move forward with that. I believe I would make a great nurse, have always wanted to be one, and despite having kids-have the ability and support to do this. But, I feel I made a dire mistake during the interview when I mentioned having 5 kids and I saw the look on thier faces, and they began writing simultaneously. My heart sank. They asked me what my greatest accomplishment was, and that's what I said. I didn't get to elaborate that 3 are teens, and 4 are in school full time, and my youngest starts pre-k soon, and I have my mother, grandmother, and my husband who works 4 days a week with his new schedule-all rooting for me and willing to help. Now, I have to find classes to take this semester to keep my financial aid, then have the Summer. I'm just hurt, dissapointed, and embarrassed because everyone keeps asking if I got in. It's only pushed my family back this much longer from me graduating and having our second income so that my kids aren't cramped in this small house to boot. :cry:This is a painful experience!

Ok, don't be depressed. You are not an idiot. I spoke to one of my professors today who was sitting in on the interviews. She told me that everyone was so good in the interviews this year that they had to basically throw them out. None of the instructors could decide on who should get in. So they just went back to the numbers. 28 was what got in. I know that must suck to be that close. I have two friends that had 27s also and didn't get in. It has really gotten competitive. You pretty much have to have all of the support courses done and at least an 88 on the HESI. I applied this year, knowing I didn't have the points but I wanted to get the 3 bonus points for the spring application. If I were you, I would retake the HESI. If you feel like you are lacking in A&P, brush up on it but really hit the math part to make up the difference. I am going to retake it in the spring so I am going to hit A&P hard during the winter break. Oh yea, I asked her if people bringing up their kids kept them out of the program and she assured me it didn't. She said it can show that the parent has greater motivation to succeed. I am 32 too and really need to get in for the fall. I left a very lucrative sales job to go back to school, leaving my wife to shoulder the "bread winning". If you need some help with A&P, let me know. I would be happy to study with you.

Good luck,

Matt
