good morning

check out the thread(s) in the entrepreneurs in nursing forum.

several threads on this topic.;)

Hi James,

I currently work part time for a Plastic Surgeon here in Hawaii doing skin care, including Botox, laser, etc. Allergan, the company that makes Botox, sent training material and the rest of my training was hands on.

I know in California and probably other areas, RN's are doing well in aesthetics. I guess it depends on your interests, I couldn't do it full time as it isn't too stimulating for me and it can be very repetative.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Hi, I am new to the aesthetic side of nursing after 12 years of critical care. I have been working in a clinic that treats vericose veins and myself and one other nurse are doing the "extra" stuff ---Botox, scerlotherapy, derma fillers, etc....I was looking into getting into this area and paying for my own classes to get certified. My suggestion is to get hired or talk with a med-spa, or aesthetic clinic on your job desires...AND have them pay for your training--this ended up saving me around 10,000 once airfare and hotel expenses were added ontop of the courses. There are several different schooling, I was confused on the "certification" and whether it was required. To answer this question--every state is different. Good luck. Another way is to get hired by a plastic surgeon or out patient surgery for cometics. Build a good solid relationship with the doc or doc's and they will invest in you if you show them your commitment to this feild.:);)
