Bodily Emissions

I posted awhile back about taking individual studies with a concentration in pre- nursing starting fall 2016. I had recently applied to a long term care facility to take their CNA class that includes being hired on after licensure. I wanted to get acclimated with the medical field.

Anyway, one of the topics discussed at the interview was bodily emissions. I've changed babies and cleaned up poop from big dogs. I don't always have a gag reflex but it happens occasionally.

Should a person be shunned for having a gag reflex? I believe a person can get "used" to smells and visual content with repeated exposure. I also know there are tricks to cover up scents.

I want to work through school and I'll apply for another CNA class so I can reach my ultimate goal which is RN.

Any thoughts, suggestions, chastisement or even wise cracks would be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone in advanced

You get used to it. Best wishes!

Meh, it happens. I've been a nurse for 37 years and mucus still makes me gag.

Blood, gore, guts, bones poking out, no problem. But a gooey trach or a snotty nose?? Blech.
