At our institution we use Bioseal CVC on all piccs and central lines to eliminate the 24 hour dressing change. We are looking to start using it in our dialysis area and I would like to know if any clinicians have experience using this product in this setting. Thanks.

Yes I have used it!!! Are you just looking to use it on new dialysis catheters unti the skin tract is sealed?. The reverse taper on a lot of PICC brands also helps decrease oozing from the site as well as a very careful dermatotomy during insertion. Some patients ( ie.thin skin...elderely) do not even need the skin nick and you can slide the dilator right in

We were mainly thinking about using it on every new dialysis catheter. We spend a lot of time dealing with these sites and are trying to eliminate this inefficiency. The question is how well does it control these oozers. Thanks, sorry for the late reply.

FYI - We used to hub our piccs with reverse taper to control bleeding/oozing but had a increase in DVT, that's what eventually led us to our current practice with PICCs and CVCs.

any idea on the cost?

I believe we pay around 16 for the CVC. We may need to use their bigger version called Advanced around these dialysis site because of how much they ooze, not sure what it cost. Anyone know from experience which is the more appropriate size? On their site they use the Advanced for femoral and fistula sheath pulls but thats arterial. Might be time to call the rep.
