Hello everyone! I'm new here, but have been reading posts for many months. I searched the forums and couldn't find very many recent posts about Bevill state. Anyone currently attending BSCC? Or has completed their program? I have many questions about their admissions process and things like that. Any help is appreciated. I also want to let everyone here know how inspiring it is to read the posts on this site. :heartbeat

Hi Alovejones. I am currently a second semester nursing student and I attend Bevill. Currently Bevill takes applications 2x's a year. Once or the Fall admission(I believe that is in April) and the LPN in the Spring. You can go to the www.bscc.edu website and in the search bar enter in Nursing Program(RN or LPN) and it will give you all the classes that you must take. Hope this helps!!!
Thank you very much Futrern. Would u mind telling me which campus u attend? I am currently taking my pre-reqs at the Sumiton campus, but I will not be finished with all of them before the April 1st deadline to turn the application in. Do you know if you have to have all of them completed before then? Or which ones are a must-have? Sorry about all of the questions, i'm just a little lost lol
I am currently on the Sumiton campus. As far as the classes go you will need to make sure that you have your Anatomy and Math. There are a couple of people that took regular classes along with their regular classes but it just makes it a little more vigourous. I would recommend that you take all pre req before you going in. However, the application deadline is April 1 but the classes dont start until August. I know you have to have Math 100, Anatomy 201/202 and Micro 220 as well as your speech. You will apply and then they will send you a letter advising of taking the TEAS V test. After that test has been taken then that is when the ball gets going. Good Luck!!:D
Thank you very much for the info :)

so i have a question about bevill also... my grades are currently as listed:
a&p1 b
a&p2 c
micro b
bio 103 c
chemistry a
mth100 c
From what i understand with how they pick for the program, the only classes they look at really are the sciences and math, but they do look at the other classes and you are given more points if you have completed all these classes prior to the application being submitted. also on my teas test, i made a 72.7%=109.5 on other schools scales... the lady told me that they look to see if u have above a 2.5 then they send out letters inviting you to take the teas v test then they make their selection based on the lever( developing, proficient, advanced,ect..) can anyone tell me how true this is? do i stand a good chance of getting in?
Sorry, I am just now seeing your reply @futurernjap. I spoke with my advisor and she told me just to make sure my gpa was above 2.5. And be eligible for math 100 and English 101. I currently don't have any of my sciences finished, but they are in progress so I will be allowed to apply for Fall 2011. I also asked about the Teas, she said we would be taking the Teas V and told me not to worry about it at this time because I would only take it if I am accepted. (still not too sure about that tho).
Thanks! That reply came right on time! I just applied to the school and turned in my nursing app. I'm going to resend a updated transcript and teas score because I'm retaking the teas to hopefully get a higher score for jeff states summer admission. And I'm taking CNA classes so hopefully that helps. A advisor told me that they HAVE to take a certain number of transfer students per year.... So hopefully I get in!
Good luck on getting in! Which campus are you attending?
Well I'm currently at Lawson taking peereqs but I hope to get into sumilton or Jasper!

Hello Everyone, I was told that consideration is based on the last 24 hours of classes taken. I graduated from Walker College in 1986 with an AS. I have decided to go back for RN. Most of my coursework was 30 yrs ago and the grades not so good, wasnt as responsible then so I am taking 24 hours to have higher grades to consider and I have to take the TEAS V. I too have been reading about the Jeff State program. From what I understand they have a night/weekend program in conjunction with St. Vincents. I was hoping to be in Nursing school in 2012 and out of Pre-Nursing. Not sure when I should take the TEAS V or when it is given in Sumiton or Jasper. Good luck to ya'll on the test.
Word to the wise- jeff state is notoriously high to get into!you basically need all A's in each science class to even have a competitive app! You might want to look into lawsons Bessemer campus program! They are a little less competitive than jeff state! And they offer the evening program also. And if your willing to relocate- Calhoun has a good part time program.
