how to best prepare

Hi everyone! I just have a question about what I should or can be doing to best prepare myself for nursing school in September. All of a sudden I'm feeling a little scared about my schedule. I mean, I know I can do it, I just feel like theres got to be something that I can be doing right now while it's still summer to get ahead and prepare myself. I have nursing one and a and p on monday. Tuesday I have clinicals all day. Wednesday I have a and p lab. Thursday is nursing 1 again, and Friday I have pharm math (I am scared of math!) :o

I also need to work 24 hours a week and find time to study. Will I have time at all for a social life? I guess I'll just have to be super organized about my time. If any of you have some advice for me that would be great! :) Thanks.

You'll do fine. It's very overwhelming to think about, so keep things in perspective and live one day at a time. It will be tough, they're will be sacrifices in social life, family life, and sleep, but it sounds like you're well aware of that and have a good idea of what you're up against.

Don't worry about preparing. Just get started when the day comes and don't get behind. And enjoy the rest of your time before school starts.

Good luck!

Agree with Tweety here. There is one thing you can do while it's summer: enjoy it!

Think about taking care of all of those "time eaters" and potential problems that you can handle before your busy school semester starts.

For example, get that dentist appointment out of the way. Do a little early Christmas shopping. Put a couple of lasagnas in the freezer. Get the car tuned up. Check that your tires have enough tread to make it safely through the semester's drives to clinicals. Have a spare computer printer ink cartrige on hand.( you know they only run out at midnight when you are finishing the paper that's due in the morning!!!)

You get the idea? Just try to anticipate the little things of daily life that become big headaches when you are tired or pressed for time. That will ease a lot of pressure for you.

Nursing school is a lot of hard work. There is a tremendous amount to learn in that short time before your NCLEX. But it can also be an exciting adventure if you are not too pooped out to appreciate all that you are learning. Good luck and best wishes to you. :)
