Mar 31, 201313 yr Hey guys, I saw that there was no post for our group so I decided to create on. How is everyone doing with their Hesi? Also, is someone who is accepted into their program declines admission, do they open up a spot for someone else?
May 14, 201313 yr Happy to report I am officially a level 2 nursing student! Successfully completed level one with B+ in all three courses. Decimal point away from that A but- in any event I am thrilled. Time flies in level one. Now that I officially finished level one I am happy to help anyone and answer any questions because I know I had tons and no one to ask! So please ask!
May 15, 201313 yr Hi there Kaitlynelisabeth! First of all, congratulations and thank you for offering to answer questions about the program! I have tons of questions but I'll start with this one.. which cpr classes should I take?
May 15, 201313 yr You can't just take the general CPR.... You have to take the Healthcare Provider one... AED/CPR course. I went to Wayne EMT center it was about 6 hours on a Sunday. Super easy, they walk you through it, demo if, you do it and than there is a short exam after. The instructor for my CPR was actually a nurse at valley and than on addition they have several EMTs to break into demo groups. It does cost like 70 bucks but your certification is good for 2 years.. You get your card on the spot after you hand in the test- if you pass it which it's not difficult if you pay attention and take notes. It does have to be American heart association or Red Cross certification Bergen is specific about that.
May 15, 201313 yr Hi, kaitlynelisabethCongrats to your moving on to Level 2!! Following your advice, im planning to buy a good stethoscope. But before buying it, i'd like to ask if the Nurse Skills Kit includes a stethoscope in it.I dont want to depress anyone even before starting the program, but im dying to know..How many people failed to finish Level 1??
May 15, 201313 yr No the skills kit has nothing but things you need for validations practice iv bags, needles vials etc you need to purchase a stethoscope and penlight (a few of them) they did like everyone other day
May 15, 201313 yr Thank you! Can I ask you about the scrubs? Do you recommend getting two white scrubs or can we choose the color?
May 15, 201313 yr Congratulations kaitlynelizabeth! I also have a question about the uniform (actually location of the uniform shop). Any suggestion about the parking near the uniform shop? I looked up the store's address at Google Map, but it seems like there are only few parking space on the street. If street parking is only option, what time is best time to go there?
May 17, 201313 yr They are specific scrubs! Go to the place they day to go in Paterson. They fit you and put the bcc logo patch on them. I would buy two sets at least many of you will have clinical wed and Thursday and will not want to be washing scrubs at 11pm when you get home. For girls they are white scrub pants, and a top that zippers with a color. You need to have white nursing shoes. White white! I have the nurses mate little blue heart ones get a good pair your on your feet non stop. Also get bandage scissors a pen light and carry a pen I always had the tricolor pen my pocket drug book, a pen light, and bandage scissors. You must go to Paterson bc they will fit your scrubs to fit you put the logo on all within 15 minutes they have the shoes there and the pocket kit which has scissors the pen light and the tri color pen all in a white pocket protector thing. The only thing I wouldn't buy there is the stethoscope they are not good- knock offs
May 17, 201313 yr I paid the 5 bucks and parked in the mall parking lot! Go in the day it can be a little scary!
May 17, 201313 yr No choosing colors they are all white- pants are standard white tips are zippered in the front for girls and I guess slightly different for boys there is a Bergen cc patch on the right shoulder of the scrub tops they are short sleeved- buy the jacket!! At least one of the jackets you will freeze- I am happy to post pictures for those eager to see
May 17, 201313 yr Thanks, I'll go there during the day time and park in the mall. As you mentioned, it does seems like a tough neighborhood.
May 19, 201313 yr Start your health forms now! They get very strict if you are not current with immunizations they will ask you to leave class- even lecture. Like you all I will be studying all summer so feel free to ask anything you come across!
