Bergen CC Fall 2013 Program

Hey guys,

I saw that there was no post for our group so I decided to create on. How is everyone doing with their Hesi? Also, is someone who is accepted into their program declines admission, do they open up a spot for someone else?

I'm still looking into health insurance, I have left voicemails at several companies and I'm waiting for some replies. I'm hoping to find something reasonable.

Go to the national student nurses association website they offer a reasonable plan

Unfortunately they are no longer offering the insurance plan as of 2013-14 due to changes in Federal law. It was a good, affordable plan. If you are under 31 years old you may be able to restart coverage under your parent (s) insurance plan as a full time student.

Here is a direct copy and pasted page from your nursing packet received in the mail:

Proof of completion of a live course must be submitted to the Nursing Department Secretary by the deadline.

It takes a few weeks to receive your official CPR card. Upon receipt of your card, please make a photo copy of the card and submit the copy to the Nursing Office.

Class schedules are available online at the American Heart Association website, http://www.americanheart.org and the American Red Cross website, http://www.redcross.org.

Students who are unable to meet the performance criteria for Certification due to health restrictions must:

1. present a physician’s statement excluding them from this requirement and

2. attend the theory component of the CPR course.

Proof of exemption must be sent directly to the Nursing Dept. office, Room B-302, from the physician; attendance at the course must be validated.

Which insurance company is it? 170 sounds good to me!

Horizon basic and essential EPO costs about 200 for me... Anyone have better options out there?

question for second level, it is better to start with gi/gu or cardiac/respiratory?

The most debated question as an entering level two student I was advised by professors, past students and mentors to take gi gu first than cardiac and level 3 take psych than maternity

I just received a letter from school saying we no longer require health insurance as of 7/5/2013? Gov. Christie signed into law such a bill?

Am I the only one?

See my post on August 7th regarding the letter you received. Yes the letter states Gov Christie no longer requires full time students to have health insurance coverage however as stated in the letter sent to our homes. Bergen community college and its hospital affiliates requires you DO need to have personal health insurance. This school can be sneaky and confusing with paperwork I urge you to read things twice three even four times and keep it in your records.

Sorry let me re phrase that... The allied health divisions of Bergen Community College and the hospitals we affiliate with for clinicals REQUIRE us to have it! Please everyone get personal health insurance and provide a copy to health services with all of your health forms soon!! CPR Malpractice copies go to the Nursing Dept Secretary
