becoming an np

I'm new to this forum and to the field of nursing. I have a BS degree in Biology .I am interested in becoming an NP after recently shadowing and networking about the profession and would like some insight as to what some of you may think is the best route to take. What are some advantages/disadvantages of completing an accelerated BSN first and then applying for MSN programs rather than a direct-entry MSN program for a non-nursing major like myself? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!! Looking specifically to find out the exact process for becoming a NP. Thank you very much in advance!

    To become a Nurse Practitioner you first have to be a Nurse. You having your BS in Biology you have many prerequisites towards a BSN and a Nursing career. I had a duel Bachelor's in the Arts of sociology and anthropology before becoming a Nurse and spent 3 quarters in prerequisite classes in the sciences before having the 90 science credits and enrolled into a BSN-RN program many years back with 2 years or 8 quarters of schooling. I took 6 month before going back to the University to continue my studies to be a FNP. During the 6 month break I studied for the N-CLEXS and was hired working in ICU and got settled in the bedside critical care. My school would not take students not working at the bedside. I worked full time 3/12 at night F,S,S while in the FNP program. Working every weekend gave me stability with my studies and clinicals. I'm now in a online DNP program as I'm working as a NP.
