Be my own agency?

Published

Hi,

I'm wondering how would I become my own nursing agency. When I was a new nurse we had a lady that was her only employee or contractor of her business.

Outside of securing a contract with a facility, does anyone know what we be my first steps? I'm licensed in Michigan and Ohio, Texas.

TIA

You could contact the boards of those states for info, and talk to a lawyer who specializes in nursing and business. Laws vary so broadly by state to give a one size fits all answer.  Good luck on your business pursuits!

You could look into starting a franchise or an LLC. I am pursuing becoming a freelance writer and have started an LLC, which was not too difficult. Although I have a lot of little extra things I had to do. Because my company only consists of myself it was way less complicated. I also didn't need to apply for a loan so I also got to skip a lot of steps. Try looking up business requirements through your secretary of state website or a lawyer. I ended up going through a company online using a registered agent to file my business paperwork. But Oregon's rule seem to be a little more strict.

Sometimes community colleges have some who helps small business owners to get off the ground. Another professional to consult is a CPA. You need tax information right at the start.
