Baylor/Weekend Only Program

I am looking into possibly switching to the Weekend program at work. I currently work 36 hours a week (3 twelve's) with alternating weekends (Saturday and Sunday). I have only been an RN for 10 months now, but I have a 5 year old who is currently in daycare who will be starting kindergarten in the Fall, and a 4 year old that is also in daycare as well. My husband works 40 hours a week, but he is in a union (Heinz Factory) that can switch his shifts at will, and he is only give 1 days notice (or previous shift) of when he is going to work; so you can see how this is problematic and stressful for us in terms of childcare.

What are your thoughts on the weekend (Baylor) program as a nurse? Pros? Cons?

All feedback is appreciated:)

If given the option, would you work weekends only? 2 members have participated

I have worked the weekend program for 2 yrs. You really can't beat it. I love it! I work 2 days a week and have a 5 day weekend. I am in grad school and have 4 children. The weekend program has help me accomplish my goals while still enjoying time with my family.

Similar to the previous post -- but less than a year at weekends.

Love my time off!
