Barry CRNA Interview

Published

I need some advice. I am interviewing August 22, 2011 for the Barry University CRNA program, beginning in January 2012. I am aware that there are already some threads on this subject, but none specific to what I'm searching for. As you may or may not know, there are several campuses including Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Ocala, etc. I was just curious if anyone has any insight on these sites from a cost of living aspect? I am not moving there for vacation, so I am hoping to chose a site that will be safe/affordable for my wife and myself. Also, has anyone been through the interview recently? The only thing I am concerned about is the test. (The chemistry portion in particular) If anyone has any insight on how to prepare it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!:)

Specializes in Medical/Telemetry. Now ICU.

I want to be a CRNA too.....go to the CRNA section in this allnurses.com website. People would have insight on the interviews. I can't give you any insight bc i just started in the ICU. sorry. Good luck!!:D

A colleague of mine just got in to Barry's program. She didn't do well on the 'test', but what really mattered, according to her, was the interview portion. They asked her questions like "Why do you want to be a CRNA?", "Why Barry?", and the other typical questions. She said she felt like she was in a job interview. Just be calm and most importantly be yourself. Good Luck!

I'm not sure but I think the site for Ocala/Gainesville may be Shands in Gainesville. Housing in Gainesville is pretty inexpensive, but gas, food, and taxes are outrageous. We have many tax exempt business ie hospitals and schools. Ocala has lower taxes and is about 40 min from Gainesville.

Specializes in Paramedic,ER, House Supervisor, OR, CVOR.

I am a Travel Nurse who has worked at a Hospital that is "Clinical Site"for CRNA's in South Florida for Barry. It seems like a good school, maybe a bit expensive, but you will get some good experience. If you want to work in South Florida, you have to be in the TOP tier of your class. There are several CRNA's in the area and not enough jobs. It's a big commitment. Choose wisely.
