Hi everyone
My name's Alberto and I am a soon-to-be graduated nurse from Spain who is going to move to the UK to work. Unlike the waves of other fellow Spanish nurses who are "forced" to move there because they have no option to work in here due to the lack of employment, I actually am very looking forward to it, since everything that I've heard from the NHS seems incredible and they seem to do everything right way to me.
I've already talked to other nurses that have worked on the UK and now I'm aware of the whole process to become a nurse on the UK, but I'm still unsure about the steps to take if I wanted to move from band 5 on, and how to move on with the points on each band. Do you have to wait one year for moving to the next point or is there any other way to advance your career, such as examinations, training or something?
Also, I intent to specialise in Neonatal Nursing and before applying for any NICU job on the uk I have in mind to take some neonatal intensive care courses here in Spain so my CV and experience can grow. Would you give me any other advice to pursue my career on this field?
Milion thanks for your answers and see you on the UK
Alberto

All new grads start at band 5 and each year from date of hire you go up an increment until you reach the top of that band. If you go for promotion then you go up a band starting usually from the next increment that is similar to your current scale and then start again going up until top of that band
