I am a new LPN, as it is so hard to find a job going on 7mths now I receive my license & have tried to apply almost every where possible in CT. I accepted a CNA positon as I need to pay the bills. I did 2 interviews the one for the CNA called me back the one for the LPN says they want to explore all their options before making a decision and that will take 2-3 wks as they got many many respond to the ad. Im keeping fingers cross as it would be the perfect job!! but what will I tell these people if I get this nursing Job? I pride myself in have strong work ethic but nursing is my passion and a CNA is not what I want be!! except for my clinical training I have no prior nursing experience. I would love anyone opinion on this I worked so hard for my LPN license & want to go back for my RN but is so disappointed!!!! I feel I will never get a nursing job I have so much to offer yet no one is willing to give me a chance!! really needs anyone opinion!!

Do not worry about it. Go to work. Should you be selected for the LPN job later, then professionally resign. This employer does not expect you to continue to work as a CNA once you are offered an LPN job. That would not make sense.
Thank you Caliotter3 I just feel so disappointed I worked so hard to be an LPN & my entire family thought Iwas never gonna do it... Now its so discouraging that cant find a job i wont give up though...

Don't give up. Keep current on nursing issues and trends, though. The economy has affected so many, including myself. I am an RN working as a caregiver. Been looking for 2 years, but my situation is a little difficult. Keep Looking!!!! Good Luck!

The employer that hired you as a CNA knows that you won't be there forever/long term. So I wouldn't worry about that part. Just give notice. Good luck on the job hunt!

The experience as an CNA will help you. Once you have worked as an CNA a get a little bit of experience then start applying for LPN jobs again. Also, while you are waiting to get a job as an LPN then maybe you could start take some of you're prerequistes for RN.

When I got out of LPN school, the hospital that I done my clinicals at hired me on the Med/Surg floor. Have you checked into that? I know how you feel tho, I use to live in GA and I moved to a very small town where LPN's were not utilized and it FOREVER to find a job, but hang in there!!!
