Background Check info?

Published

I have a question about the background check....

Over the summer i received an infraction for "drinking on stadium property" i.e. tailgating. Just a ticket, no arrests or anything. No underage drinking. Just wasn't following the no tailgating rule. Is this visible on a background check? If it is, will I be disqualified? I'm really worried.

There is nothing else on my record.

Please help!

This will depend on how stringent the background check is. I only know the disqualifiers for mine include misdemeanors in the last 3 years (also controlled substance in last 7). So was the ticket a misdemeanor? If not and it was just a fine, then you should be fine. If it was a misdemeanor charge, it depends on your area clinical site policies. I have a misdemeanor Minor in possession of liquor from 5 years ago and still stressed about my background check, but passed. GL

Nope not a misdemeanor! That's good you got in! I can imagine how bad you were stressed. I am too kinda but I realize it's not that big of a deal. It's not a DUI or felony or rape or abuse. Hopefully I'm good.

I'm pretty sure you will be ok. Regular civil and municipal charges don't really matter. This is the list of disqualifiers for the background check I had for my school. It is probably similar, if not the same, for yours.

sorry for the length, I couldn't get it to format properly when copying to here.

Thanks for the info! I'm feeling better now.

It probably depends on your state and school policies, but I know where I am at just getting ticketed for an infraction doesn't cause any problems. It has to be a certain type of misdemeanor or a felony (of any type) for it to count against you. Oh, and I think any outstanding arrest warrants will do it too. Your best bet? Check out your state BON and school policies.

In Massachusetts, our background checks are called CORIs (Criminal Offender Record Information). The report includes only past court appearances. I think you will be fine.
