Back to school!

So I am starting (prayerfully) again, after having to drop, lpn school in October!!! I'm scared to death! I had to drop for financial reason last time but now we are able to do this and I'm happy but do scared too! I have 6 children ranging from 4-13 so I'm afraid of how this will work and can we survive it!! I want to be a nurse so bad but I also love being a mommy! But with a family this size both my husband and I have to work and me being a nurse would help is greatly!! I'm also worried about what hours I could work once I finish? Are there places that will work with me and my kids schedules? Also HAS ANYONE WITH THIS MANY CHILDREN SURVIVED LPN SCHOOL AND WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE ME!!! Lol

I also have 6 kids. I am still taking my prerequisites. This is an interesting topic, I would also like to see what other people post with their experiences. :)

Wow I am starting again in August after having to drop a couple of years ago for pregnancy complications. I do not have 6 kids but I do have 3. I'm a single mom so I have to keep my job. I work overnight 12hr shifts. My job is going to work with me as much as possible with my schedule. I know its going to be challenge for me but I know with hard work and dedication I will get through it. Glad I'm not alone in this. Can't wait to hear from other moms and see how they manage. Good luck everyone...we are changing our lives!

I only had 1 child in LPN school. After 20 years, I'm back in school, made it through pre-req's, just got accepted into an RN program starting this fall, and now have 3 kids and a full time job. It's been difficult, especially financially, but I'm gonna stick it out. I can remember in LPN school counting my change to make it to clinical's the next day. If I have to do it again, oh well! I'm sure it will be hard with 6 children because I know it is with 3 but when it's over it will all be worth it! Hang in there, you can do it!

I believe you will be able to find midnight employment with no problem. That is my goal after I finish this LPN program (I have one little princess that is 20 months old). My goal is to work 3-12 hour shifts or 4-10 hours shifts (midnights) to spend as much time as I can with my lil lady and attend a LPN-RN program.

Just believe in yourself. You have an awesome support system (your kids) and here on all nurses. Always remember, there is always better off than others in similar situations.:nailbiting: And that there are others that have been where you are. :nurse:
