AVC Fall 2019 ADN

Was recently accepted into Antelope Valleys RN program, starting this fall (2019). Wanted to start a thread to discuss the requirements/ deadlines to fufill before the start date in August.

Congrats! I was also accepted at AVC for the fall 2019 semester. I submitted the three forms that are due on the 24th, registered for a BLS class, and got my first TB test/titers drawn yesterday.

Congrats to you as well! As of now I have turned in the same three forms, signed up for BLS, started the background check, and made the appointment for all the physical requirements.
How many visits will it take for you to complete TB?

Thank you! It can be completed it two visits spaces at least one week apart, I have the second half of my test next Tuesday. We’re you by any chance able to schedule an appointment for the flu vaccine? I called a few places but none of them currently had the 2019-2020 vaccination available due to it not being flu season.

Thank you. What I was told from my doctor's office was that until flu season comes back around (October) the vaccine will not be available. The packet we got seemed to suggest it was fine to hold off until it was available again.

Great, thank you! I will verify when I meet with the nursing counselor next week. Are you going to attend the ADN meet and greet?

Are you taking a class at AVC that you were able to get a counseling appointment? I cant get one until we get our first nursing class! And when is the meet and greet?! This is the first Im hearing of this.

Update: I received the flyer for the meet and greet but the date and time is not specified.

I’m not currently taking any classes at AVC, but I was able to schedule an appointment with the nursing counselor the same day that I received my enrollment packet. It wasn’t specified on my flier either, I will see if she has any information on the day and time meet and greet as well & post it here.

Okay thank you. I will try again to make an appointment. I emailed the women who had sent the secomd letter/ flyer. She told me as of now there is no determined date for the meet and greet.

Thanks for the update, I am terrified of missing one of the deadlines! Have you completed your drug test yet?

Agreed! But we seem to be right on track with everything. I did my drug test at summit urgent care, which I honestly would not suggest. It was the most expensive now that I look into it of all the three suggestions from the packet. Additionally you dont get your own results, they send it straight to the school.
