ATI CAT Exams

Published

Hello,

New grad here preparing for NCLEX. I have been using ATI's adaptive tests. I've had 3 test shut off at 75 scoring hard difficulty ranging from 51, 67, and 84th percentile. Along with 1 exam shut off at 117 question level hard at the 26th percentile. Are these scores good enough for passing the NCLEX? I'm only getting a little more than half of the questions right. What should my goal be for scoring with these CAT exams?

Thanks!

There isn't a lot of info out there, but I think you're fine. You made it into the 'hard' question level, so that alone should tell you that you are doing well. Beyond that, it's expected that you would have some variation in percentile, and 26th is still after making it to the hard level. It's OK to only be getting 50% right because the questions are skewed to higher difficulty because you answered the easier questions correctly.

I remember reading somewhere that a school recommended trying to get above 50th percentile on the medium difficulty.

Have you taken your exam? I’m in the same boat and am scheduled in two weeks!

Yes, I have taken my exam and I passed in 75 questions. ATI prepared me well. If you score in the hard category and are getting 50% right I bet your good for NCLEX.

Congratulations!! You mean if Im getting 50% of the questions correct, not necessarily my percentage compared to my peer, right? Ugh, I take mine on the 20th and I am absolutely terrified!
