aroostook nurses walk for contract

presque isle, maine-with the goal of raising public awareness about their work and contract negotiations, nurses from the aroostook medical center on monday evening were joined by colleagues from around the state as they walked to draw attention to their cause....

..."our actions today do not in any way suggest that negotiations are not going amicably," she said monday evening. "they have been. we just want to draw attention to this issue and raise awareness so that the public will see what we are trying to get done."...

...the nurses are asking for a professional practice committee run by bedside nurses to have "true input" regarding patient care and safety issues. they also are seeking language in their contract that will prevent the aroostook medical center from implementing new technology that replaces nurses at the bedside....

With all their great benefits they still have the most openings of any hospital in the state of Maine. They are still using alot of travelers. They can't change the fact that they are in the boonies. The union will never change that. LOL

Great! More patient abandonment from the unions...this really helps patient care.

The nurses continued to work their assigned shifts.

The walked on their day off, before or after their shift, of during a meal break.

The newspaper link of 1 1/2 years ago does not work.

Those who read the article would have known nurses continued to work and were supported by colleagues, other healthcare workers, and patients.

So what did they get. Did they get warm weather in the winter? Do their patients not poop? Do families not drive them crazy? And they are advertising for a CRNA and a Surgeon. That doesn't sound like a great place to work. And they have lots of travel nurses. As well as Cali for that matter.
