Are online BSN programs really accepted by employers?

Published

Is BSN online actually considered a "real" degree by hospitals? Or do you have to actually go to a university to be considered credible?

thanks....

My online degree is from a "real" university. It's the same degree the classroom-based students at that particular state university receive. Yes, it is considered a real degree by my employer, because it *is* a real degree.

A lot depends on the specifics. Is your online school reputable? Is it one that people have heard good things about? Or is it one that few people have heard of -- or, if they have heard of it, it is associated with negative news stories. Do you have an entry-level nursing education (e.g. ADN) from a school with a good reputation? etc.

There is no "one size fits all" answers to your question.

Employers are interested in your RN work experience as well as your unencumbered RN license. In most cases prospective employers are not concerned with your education.
