Aquacell AG

Does Aquacell AG dissolve in wounds? Order for a infected appy site. Pack with Aquacell AG cover with ABD and tegaderm everyother day? Would it dissolve or has the pt been taking it out?

It should be taken out. I have a QOD dsg change with this. It's applied feeling like the old calcium fiber packing and it absorbs the drainage making it more of a "wet skin/scab" texture.

Aquacel does not dissolve. When it becomes wet, it turns into a gel-like substance, but should still be in one piece.

Is it aquacel AG rope or just the sheet style? (Rope has white woven thread so that it stays intact in tunneling wounds). It definitely does not dissolve, and like the above posters stated, it will gel when in contact with wound exudate. Always be sure to leave a sufficient amount of packing outside the wound so that it can be extracted-hopefully the wound is not deep enough for the aquacel AG to have been lost?
