Applying at NYP system

I can't wait to finish my BSN and apply for positions in NYP! Anyone here with an Associate's degree with years of experience but in a BSN program ever get hired at NYP?

I am not giving up! I really want to get a job in a NYP hospital (preferably Columbia or Weill Cornell) I only have my Associates with 5 years experience in MS/Tele (exp floating to CCU) and will be finished my BSN in the next 3 months. I know they strictly want BSN. But what's the point of putting a "eligible to obtain BSN in 3 months" option in the online application when I know they won't entertain you? It's just frustrating. I even got a tease email! Someone from Human Resources emailed me with a position that I was interested in. I was honest and told them I do not have a BSN at this time and that I will be finished this summer (in 3 months). She replied back and said "We want someone with a BSN already. You have the experience. We will keep your information and call us back when you are finished." :(

    I hope you get the job. I don't see why you wouldn't get hired, at the end of the day you're a registered nurse and have 5 years of experience! They just need you to have the BSN status because they're a magnet hospital. All freaking politics and so silly. I feel like if we all sit for the same darn test we all deserve the equal opportunity to be considered for the job as long as ADNs plan to obtain their BSN within 1 year of hire. Good luck to you!

    Yes! I agree, ChrisB718. We all took the same test so ADN's and BSN's should have equal chances of getting a job. It's all about experience, not degrees.

    I've worked at NYP for 7 yrs now (not as an RN) and I can almost guarantee that with an associates you won't will not get a job here without your BSN unless you really blew em on your interview, family of HR or really know higher ups. I have coworkers who are PCT and aides who have been working for years and went to nursing school and received their associates license and they were having a hard time getting an RN position. These aren't lazy PCT or aides either.
