Applying to Nursing Programs with Veterinary Experience???

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi there!

I live in the Kansas City area and I am getting ready to fill out applications for BSN programs next month. I was wondering, regarding the experience part, if I would be seriously disregarded for only having veterinary clinical/animal experience? Originally, I wanted to be a vet, so all of my volunteer and work activities are animal and animal hospital related. Of course, I was dealing with the human owners, too, but I'm not entirely sure that would count. :D

I'm currently prepping for the TEAS test (no score as of yet), I've got an AS degree in Biology, and a 3.7 GPA.

Has anyone else applied with animal hours? Any enlightenment is very much appreciated!

Thank you!

Jennifer

I bet you'll be fine. Your science grades are good and you show a level of caring.

If your application requires clinical experience, I'm going to say it is unlikely they'll take your current experience into consideration to meet that requirement.

I've never heard of a pre-licensure BSN program that absolutely requires clinical experience to be admitted.

Thanks for the input, guys!
