applying for a new job

Published

There's a job opening at a clinic near where I live, it's PT during the week, basically just taking vs, and prep the pt for the MD. So I got an application for the position, now my question is should I tell my current employer that I plan on applying for this position, or should I wait and see if I even get a call back?

I wouldn't tell them anything quite yet. Once you get the position, I would weigh both of the jobs out, just in case you decide you can take on 2 jobs rather then quitting your other job. Once you make your decision, then I would tell your current employer.

i would wait until i get the job and decide what i want to do.

Wait...you never know, your current employer might think you're giving them two weeks or take it that you're quitting there all together.

Never let an employer know you're looking elsewhere...If you got another job and gave a 2 week notice...some employers will tell you to "leave now". Or you may be treated differently and set up for the chop block in a subtle way.

Besides, you haven't even interviewed with this clinic yet! Always secure another job first! Just my opinion.
