Having those done will give you an extra 20pts on your admissions, usually the difference between a direct acceptance and a waitlist acceptance. So yes, directly they are part of the course outline, indirectly, they are prerequisites. Does that make sense? Are you taking A&P now? If not, at least get started on them! It's not really something you want to do while you're in nursing school, b/c the instructors at GBCC will kick your butt in the nursing program, and A&P itself, if you want to do well, is going to be about 15 hours a week of studying. BTW, I go there now, and I am in the program, so if you have any questions.... :) Good luck!
Im in the nursing progam at great bay, just finished my first semeter. I am the only student out of 55 taking A&P concurrently, and it is hard, but not impossible. I must have slipped through the admissions process because most of the instructors thought no one was accepted without A&P, so you should take it now if you can.
You also get an additional five points for good references(so ten points b/c you turn in two references). I'm not really sure how Manchester works, but I think it is similar to GBCC. I got accepted by both, so I imagine they are about the same, and I had the references, and the A&P. Go to one of the info session for both also if you haven't yet!
Ohhh, this is interesting, I didn't know app's were based on a points scale! Does anyone know how they look at the NLN scores? I am taking my pre-requisites (all of them) before getting into the program. I actually started the summer semester today with Intro to psych and A&P I. I will be applying for the Fall of 2011.
I've heard that you *should* take all your pre-reqs as it is hell on earth (so I hear) to take ANY classes concurrently with the nursing classes!

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some insight into applying to Great Bay- I was under the impression that A&P I and II were part of the program and not prerequisites, but the impression that I got from an admissions counselor was that I need to have these done before I apply?
Any information from anyone who applied, or is attending, regarding the admissions process would be greatly appreciated (regarding test scores, background, etc.) Thanks!
