applied i485 on july 2

has anyone received or heard anything from USCIS regariding their application (i 485) submitted on july 2 or july 17? i'm a little concerned because at the time of filling (july 2), i was on F 1 status, and now i don't know if i should enroll myself this fall (aug20). the primary reason i don't want to go back to school is the cost (out of state fees) yet i haven't received my receipt number. so pls, let me know if you've received your receipt number and when it was filled. thank you so much for your time!!

My I-485 was also filed on July 2 and no receipt notice yet. At least you are not alone.

Immigration has stated that they would not accept any petitions that were submitted on July 2nd and that they will be returned. If you had the I-140 submitted, and the I-485 on the 17th, then you will be getting a receipt number. But if before, the I-485 will be returned. There is no reason for them to have to hold onto them in the first place, as there are no visas available. They are going to be very strict with any of the rules that they have put into place.

If the petition was hand delivered on the 2nd, it would have been refused. So they are not going to accept any that arrived via mail, or courier. They legally cannot do it.

They still have to go thru all of the mail that they received, and things are never returned instantaneously. Always a month or so.

I still stand by what I have stated, if they refused to accept the I-485 in person on the 2nd of July; then how can they legally accept it in the mail? Expect to see more legal issues because of this statement.

The other key factor is that accepting something and approving something are two very distinct items.

The issue also depends on when you had all documents completed for the I-140 and if that was 100% complete before it was filed. If someone just graduated in May, it is almost impossible to have the NCLEX completed as well as a Visa Screen Certificate in hand. And the previous notices for July have stated that if a petition was not 100% complete it would be returned, they would not be asking for additional information.

do you know of anyone, whose application was returned?

Our lawyer has informed me that he has just received our receipt notices (I-797) from USCIS. This is good news to those who filed for AOS last July 2. But keep in mind that acceptance does not guarantee approval.

Good to know, some of my friends are also waiting for their reciept notices. Thanks!
