Applied for job - how long to wait?

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've had a job anywhere (been SAHM for about 4 years now) so I am a little rusty on the application process....

I submitted my application to a local hospital one week ago Friday (electronically), and was wondering how long should I wait before I call about my application? Also, what do you say when you call HR... "I would like to check the status of my application", that kind of thing? I am so nervous about the whole thing I'm afraid I will come across like a fool or something. Just need some help to calm those nerves ;)

Thanks in advance!

What I would do is call the hospital and ask to speak to a nurse recruiter. They are usually seperate from general applicants. Hopefully you will speak with a person who is looking for just nurses...good luck!

It usually takes about 2 weeks. I called nurse recruitment when I wasn't sure about my status and just asked if they recieved my application and how long it usually takes for a response.

Good luck

Thanks for your responses... I am not sure if this hospital has a nurse recruitment office, but I will call and find out!

Thank you for the luck as well (every little bit helps! :D )

Just wanted to update... I called and asked about my application and they said the only thing they could tell me is that the position had been filled or not... I said that would work and she told me the position had been filled :smackingf So I assumed from that that I wasn't hired LOL

They have an opening in Newborn Nursery that I am planning to apply for now, so we'll see how that goes :D

Thank you guys for your support!
