Applications, applications, applications.......

After reading several posts... I now realize I am not alone in my search for a job. I too graduated from a well known nursing school... and yet I cannot find a job.. Every job opening wants like 2-3 years of experience. Yet I have continued to fill out application after application. It's getting depressing and very frustrating. Anyway I'm just wondering, for those new grads who did actually land a job, how did you "sell yourself" in your resume/ application??? The only experience I have is when I did an externship in the ICU at a local hospital. So when it comes to listing my SKILLS on an application... I draw a total blank... I feel like I don't really have any. I REALLY need a job and I actually found some openings for new grads NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED here in AL even if it is 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from my house!!!!! I need some help here with the skills part... I mean I am good with kids, LOVE geriatric patients, decent at starting IV's... but I don't really feel like these are SKILLS... what do they want to hear??

ya you're not alone. I am applying every single day and have been calling the places. My frustration level is almost out of limit.

Did you apply for the New Grad opening? I would apply for it, give it a shot. The ride sounds really long but still you will get an experience for interviews and if you get the job you'll have something. Later you can still apply to places near you.

Yeah i'm in the process of applying.. tyring to perfect my application. Who's have thought we wouldn't be able to find jobs as nurses!!! It's insane! I'm gonna hold out a little bit longer, but if i don't have something in a few weeks, I'm going to take whatever job I can get- receptionist or cleaning houses... whatever I can find. How sad is that?
