HI,

I have a friend who is a second courser who is a graduate of nursing in Philippines. She want to take NCLEX exam in california. Does she need to be licensed as a nurse in Philippines to qualify for exam? Or Transcripts or diploma is sufficient to be allowed to take exam.

Thanks you for your reply.

Welcome to the site

It is not applying for NCLEX exam but to be a RN in the US of which NCLEX is part of that process. Titled changed to reflect this.

This question has been asked a few times and there was talk of Ca requiring a local license but not sure if their website has been updated to reflect this. Always better to contact BON yourself to ask.

Also be aware of retrogression and looking currently of approx 5 years plus before obtaining a visa and that is no longer a guarantee due to a high demand. Maybe worth looking at another country or work in the Philippines and gain experience. Most countries aboroad do require a local license.
