App and Cert

My ER sees a lot of Mental Health patients. We have to do a Medical Clearance Exam, labs, and then call Community Mental Health to come and see the patient, and then place them in a facility. The RN has to fill out the application, thus placing the RN in a position to get subpoenas and go to court. Do ALL RN's have to do this. I have heard of some places where the Social Worker fill a out the App.

I've never done anything of the sort. Generally, these pts are a piece of cake for me. Someone calls security if they need to be watched, the unit secretary calls MHP and puts together any info needed, faxes and copies. I'd be lost without our wonderful, underpaid unit secretaries! The doc does a physical exam, lab draws blood, I get them to urinate.
