Anyone working in a step-down trauma unit?

Hi,

If you are working in a step-down trauma unit, do you enjoy it? I was on one the other day and it was very fast paced... Do you consider yourselves a trauma nurse or a med-surge nurse? What level trauma is your hospital? Mine is a level I. Any suggestions on how to organize myself would be greatly appreciated as I am a new-grad.

Thanks

New grads are great creatures! You're an empty vessel that we get to fill up and mold... just remember to take each day as a learning experience. Keep your eyes and ears open, and don't ever be afraid to ask questions... to nurses and doctors. Jump in there and stand your ground, that's your job now.

I have worked in Level 1 trauma center and in a little island ER, the patients are the same... they all need you on their side.
