anyone use a headhunter

Hi guys

I am a ICU travel nurse here in the bay area and I am wanting to settle down in the area. I don't want to deal with being the low man on the totem pole again in terms of vacation or other things so my thinking was to get a per diem job since I already pay for my own insurance. That way I can schedule myself on the days I want to work and I can probably get all the hours I want, and take time off when I want as long as I meet my weekend requirements. problem is when I look online at the area hospitals (I have looked at kaiser, sutter, adventist health, etc) and I can't find any per diem jobs even med surg, PCU, ICu days, nights...nothing. So I am wondering have any of you used a nurse headhunter? if so which one? I really want to work at Kaiser but if the pay is the same I will consider others. Someone here suggested it may be due to the upcoming strike...is this true?
