Anyone else starting the LPN program in Jan. 06?

Published

I'll be starting Jan 9 - its an 18 month program, of course it took me 3 semesters to complete the required pre-reqs before I could even apply.

Anyhow, anyone else joining me with a Jan start?

I completed an LVN program not too long ago, but wanted to wish you the best of luck during your stay in school. ;)

I will be starting a LVN program in late January. I have been in the pre req program for the last couple of months and it is due to finish the 3rd week in January. Immediately following, the LVN program begins.

The program is 14 months long and is due to finish in April of 2007. I am doing the evening program, which is 25 hours a week.

Do you know what your first module will consist of? My first rotation will be in pediatric care. I am looking forward to finally getting my feet wet since I feel I have been behind books for a long time! Prior to starting this program, I was enrolled for three years at a community college completing my pre reqs for the RN program. The school I was attending, as well as others in this area, have a "lottery" type application process. After 2 rounds of rejections, I had enough. I decided to bite the bullet and take the LVN route first and RN later.

I wish you luck next week and in the course of your program! :)

I am starting a LPN program January 3 in Tampa. My program is 12 months long. I didn't think the day would ever get here. I am so excited!!

I will be starting a LVN program :yeah: Jan. 18. It's a 12 mos course in Palmdale, Ca. The first course is 2 wks of anatomy & physiology. I have completed all my pre-req from the local jr. coll. for the RN program, except physiology. Failed the first test. The science course we're like pre-med/killer/80%fail rate, so I finally got burnt out! And I need to start working, so I'm doing this for now. Good luck to all of us!

I had much of the same issue as you. I have to admit, it was quite disheartening going through the process. I have found that having those classes done makes it much easier to get through the pre req classes for the LVN program, which is mandatory at my school. Since A&P is a combined class at the new school, I have to still take that during the first module. I didn't finish my Physio class since I decided to do the LVN program after the semester started. I took a "W" for withdrawing, but I would not have been able to start the LVN program AND take the physio class.

Like you, I need to get back to work. This seemed like the best option to do that sooner rather than later.

Good luck to you...good luck to all of us! I look forward to catching up with everyone during the modules to see how everyone is doing.

I too start Jan 9th.

My school is on the quarter system: 3 quarters prereqs, then 4 quarters clinicals (1 year). I will graduate in December 2006.

The first quarter is fundamentals in a LTCF. Then med/surg the second quarter. We will have a Peds, L&D, and OR rotation(s) at some point in the last 2 quarters. Along the way, we will also be phlebotomy and IV certified.

Best of luck to you!

I start the LVN program on Jan. 09!

It took me 3 years to get in to a nursing program. While searching for a school to accept me, I received my A.A.S and my B.A.

It's always difficult when you move state to state and the requirements change (Military Family). In one school I attended, you need to be a CNA in order to apply. In a different one they had a two year wait list.

Good luck to all of you that were accepted into a program! :)

I start next Monday. It has taken me 3 semesters to complete the pre-reqs that we have to have FINISHED before applying to the LPN school. It has gotten VERY competitive here in Indy!!
