Any trouble getting into an FNP program with an MSN from WGU?

Published

I am a BSN nurse considering pursuing a MSN in Education through WGU (Western Govenor's University). I am worried however that if I want to pursue FNP later in my career, either with a post-Masters certificate of DNP program, that I may not be competitive or accepted with this degree.

I do plan on trying to reach out to the local FNP programs in my state about this as well. I'm in Nevada, so I'm limited to UNR/UNLV if I want to stay in state.

I did well in my undergrad, with a GPA of 3.9 in my BSN. I hope that that would help, in addition to experience (I have 5 years now of telemetry/PCU and plan to continue working in the hospital for several years).

Any nurses out there with Masters degrees from WGU that got accepted to good FNP programs- either post-cert MSN or DNP?
