anesthesia research topic

Published

Hi everyone, can some of you give me suggestions for a reseach topic relating to CRNA's or anesthesia please. I want to do my undergrad research project with this topic in hopes of learning more about this challenging field. I hope that some day I can stand amongst the rest of you wise intelligent people ;)

why don't you do it on recall during surgery - pretty good subject matter and important in this field.

I always felt there was a direct relationship regarding the distance between a patient's nose and the laryngoscopist's nose based on their level of experience. Beginning laryngoscopists appear to be kissing the patient on the forehead; their noses almost touching. With greater experience, that distance widens until the laryngoscopist actually stands upright and intubates with arms slightly extended. With extreme age, the arms are fully extended during laryngoscopy, and may actually be too short for optimal visualization as advanced age sets in. Hope this helps!

ANESTESIA EFFECTS ON THE ELDERLY...THIS GROUP OFTEN HAS LONG TERM SIDE EFFECTS FROM ANESTESIA . i HAVE NOTICED THAT SOME ELDERLY PATIENTS POST SURGERY HAVE COMPLAINED FEELING LIKE THEY ARE IN A "FOG", THAT WON'T GO AWAY...HUMM..JUST A SUGGESTION.

Thanks for the interesting suggestions. Someone also suggested researching the rate of sedation on a pt who smokes a lot of marijuana. Do MDA/CRNA's screen pt's for pot use before they are anesthetised? Is there even a correlation between pot use and dose of CNS depress./anesthetics?

Thanks for everyones help!

May I suggest a topic with a political twist? More and more, politics, lawyers, and government are dictating how health care providers are making patient care related decisions. s this appropriate?

I am sure there are many CRNA's who would love to comment on their views regarding CRNA's working for the goverment, in a socialized medicine structure, for example. How might this effect the morale of the profession?

Would it be viewed as an incentive to go into the field or not?
