Anesthesia Careplans

Hello Everyone,

I was just checking to see if anyone knows of a book that specifically contains anesthesia careplans? If not, has anyone developed any care plans they would like to share? I appreciate your help. Thanks, Kathy, SRNA

A great resource textbook is by Jaffee, Anesthesiologist's Manual of Surgical Procedures. Not cheap, around $125.

I recently discovered a book called "Essence of anesthesia practice" by Roizen and Fleisher. It has one page summaries of anesthetic implications of diseases and procedures. About $80-90 range, I think.

I am familiar with Jaffee. It is a good reference, but you can get bogged down in the "surgical implications" if you don't watch it. After all what you want are the "anesthesia implications".

I also like "Anesthesia and Co-existing disease" by Stoelting. I am thrilled there is finally a new edition. It is very good for rare and unusual diseases, but also good for common conditions. Nothing about particular procedure implications, though.

Thanks, I really appreciate your input.

Kathy,

You are welcome to my careplans, but I think you are further along than i am and may not find use with mine.

If you want them, pm me. I'm back from clinicals on Friday. My current clinical site is 4 hours away from home and for the next 3 months. Won't be checking this often.

graduating in 6 months i have a database full of anesthesia careplans.

I noticed you have a database full of care plans and was wondering if they are available to view?

I am in school now and would love to have some copies of careplans or just let me know which books are the best. Let me know--

There is also a great PDA program available from Skyscape called "The Manual of Anesthesia Practice". I would refer to it one the nights I was on call. It's a great reference, with tips that aren't in Jaffee.

Great resource!!!! Thx to the pana for posting it on their website and thx to the Southern Illinois SRNAs that put it together!!!

kathy, thanks for the great link, but i can't seem to locate the care plan bank......what is it listed under?:uhoh3:

Hi Leprechaun!

Go to www.pana.org, it is the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetist's web site. On the left hand side, click on 'student activities' on the left. Go to 'care plan links'. There are around 50 or so. Also, on the right side of the page you can download an empty template.

Best of Luck!!
