Is this a good first job for a new grad? I wouldn't think so. It's at a good local hospital.

Why do you think it wouldn't be a good job for a new grad??

You need to have strong assessment skills, apparently. I've been looking at that area too but they only seem to hire experienced nurses.
My first job as a new grad was at an ASC. Love it!! Hope to never work anywhere else. Yes, you do need to have strong skills and know when something is going wrong as there is no RRT, etc. You also have to be very good at patient education.
Whether it is a good match or not may also depend on your school experience. My sr practicum was in the PACU which made a transition to the recovery room at the ASC very smooth!
Good luck!
Thanks everyone for the input. I just thought it might not be as useful as med-surg because you'd only have outpatient experience. But, I can see how assessment would be very important as your patient is going home, so you'd want to be sure that all was well.
