In October 2005, After Seeing Their Advertisement In The Nursing Times For Rmn Vacancies In The London Area, I Applied To An Agency Named Ambition 24 Hours. Two Weeks Ago, After All My Paperwork Had Been Processed I Was Placed On Call For This Agency. I Have Had No Phone Calls. I Have Been Empoyed By Many Nursing Agencies Before And Am Aware That Work Is Not Always Available. However Prior To Leaving My Full Time Contracted Job In The North, Ambtion Advised I Would Work ,on Average, 3 Shifts A Week. As You Can Probably Imagine I Have Been Concerend That I Have Not Received Any Phone Calls. Initially I Thought That Due To Being A New Member Of Staff They May Need A Little Reminder And I Contacted Them. For The First Week I Did This To Be Informed That Their Was No Work In London For Rmns That Particular Day. Since I Rang Every Day (and Most Days Morning And Afternoon) And Received The Same Repsonse I Became Increasingly Anxious Whether There Was Any Work At All. At The End Of The Week A Representive Explained That Usually Four Shifts Are Made Available To Ambtion For Rmns Each Week In London And Their Are Fifty Rmns Working In London, So It Is First Come First Served. I Wish I Had Been Informed Of This Before I Left My Full Time Contracted Job Rather Than Informed By Ambition There Would Be Work. I Was Also Met With A Variety Of Repsonses. I Was Asked On Many Occassions To Clarify Where London Was In The Uk. The Agency Is Based In South Africa, Therefore I Can Understand That Their Geography Of Engand May Be A Bit Rusty. But How On Earth Are They Supposed To Be Suppying Nurses To Hospitals If They Don't Know Where London Is? Two Representitives Have Been Very Rude To Me When I Expressed My Concern That I Had Not Received Any Phone Calls For Work. The Response Of One Being "people Keep Ringing Me Up For Work And Their Is'nt Any!" Finally, The Amount Of Times I Have Contacted Ambition To Be Told They Would "ring Back In Five Minutes" Which They Never Did.
As You Can Probably Gather I Am Quite Bitter About This Situation I Believe Ambtion Has Left Me In. Ambition Have Been Dishonest, Disorganised, Misrepresented The Role Of A Nursing Agency And Above All Been Less Than Ambitious To Find Work For A New Employee.

Why would you wish to sign up with an agency that was not even located in your country?
Why do you not sign up with more than one agency, especially for per diem work? This is done by everyone that works it, you never put all of your eggs in one basket as we say over here.
