HOW many Air Force nurses are out there?

I am a recruiter  not trying to recruit here :nono: but rather to gain info so that I can spread the best knowledge about the Air Force to civilians. I tend to get alot of ?s I cant answer and would love to be able to get them from you guys!

Admin please dont boot me you will never see me solicit or break this forums rules:bowingpur

Well...I guess the name says it all...unfortunately for you I'm Canadian through and through so I may not have your answers...but thought I'd say hi anyways.

Well, I was in the AF 1969-72 and would not trade my experience for anything. I gained more confidence, more skills, more expertise in dealing with people and more medical knowledge than in the civilian world. I would recommend the AF to any nurse who wants to travel and really see what the world is like. Opened my eyes to how our government truly functions, too.

txcookie,

Check out some of my old posts. I have answered many questions for would be AF nurses.

Is there some particular questions that you are wanting to ask?

My background by the way is:

AF nurse x6yr/Capt

I carry three identifiers and I am working on my fourth (46N3, 46N3E, 46N3J, and I am currently in school at USUHS working on my CRNA). I also have my M prefix for my CCRN.

I have been stationed at Sheppard, Keesler, and now USUHS.

I think most of the nurses' questions thinking of entering the AF have been answered on this forum at one point or another.

Newbie 46F3 here....AFReserve(although i did just see my own name on a promotion list @ AFRPC this morning....that was weird....I felt very official)

Lots of good info from other folks here. I'm way too 'new blue' to offer much insight. I tend to stay out of it unless it's reserve specific and or process oriented. Plus, ya'all keep changing the rules! :)

Congratulations!

Don't sell yourself short. You have the most up to date information of all of us. Things have changed quite a bit just in the few years I have been in.

Thank you, Captain.

It's a nice change to view my newbie status as a potential asset. I can certainly offer a different perspective to potential reserve RN's anyway.

Coming in on the reserve side is a lot different than active and can add unique challenges....

For example, not being assigned a sponsor or anyone to 'show you the ropes' when you're non-prior service, attending UTA's for months before going to COT or receiving any other formal military instruction, and on and on. It's too early for me to think of them all.

Anyway, it's been different. But very exciting and so far both challenging and rewarding. For the most part, people have been supportive. And I've certainly never been physically examined more! (long story)

I do learn a lot on here, too.....
